A unique international experience!

The "n+i" foundation period is a unique international experience which proposes in a single package the cultural, linguistic and methodological integrations that precede and prepare to an engineering training in France.

Aims of the programme

This preparatory program is intended for all students who need to have a full period of preparation before entering a engineering training.

The foundation period content is adapted to the entry level of the student and regarding the study programme the student is enrolled in (master, bachelor).

Note that a foundation period can be requested by a school as a pre-requisite before an academic programme (master or bachelor).

PreMaster : a 1-year preparation in France before a 2-year Master programme

A unique international experience!

The "n+i" PreMaster is a unique international experience which proposes in a single package the cultural, linguistic and methodological integrations that precede and prepare to the training of master in France.

Aims of the programme

This program is intended for all students wishing to:

  • Have an experience in France after a Bachelor or before a Master,
  • Prepare an admission to Network "n+i" school for a master's degree,
  • Prepare apprenticeship training funded by a company,

Advantages of a PreMaster

  • A discovery of French culture in a high-level scientific and technical programme,
  • A better preparation for studies in France (upgrading),
  • A better preparation for admission to an engineering school at the same time as French students.
  • A preparation for business-funded studies (scholarships and / or apprenticeships),
  • Reduces the cost of study in France by accessing to apprenticeship,
  • During the PreMaster students are accommodated in host families during 8 weeks.

Duration and credits

The duration of PreMaster is 10-12 months (2 semesters from September till August) followed by a 2-year programme of Master.

This PreMaster do not lead to a degree but gives 60 ECTS credits transferable.

Requirement

In French: the required level is the level A2 (beginner). If the student does not have the level A2, he can reach it by following, just before the PreMaster, a Package of Linguistic Integration (PIL).

In English: If French language is low then the level of English has to be good, either: IELTS> 6, TOEFL (paper)> 600, TOEFL (internet)> 90, TOEIC> 850.

The Programme of PreMaster

A PreMaster offers the same Welcome and Discovery Package than for other students and the language and methodological packages that are included in the program PreMaster:

First semester (PreMaster center) from September to January :

  1. Welcome in September. This welcome is the one described on the page "Welcome and Discovery Package",
  2. Courses are divided into two parts:
    • The part of intensive French courses (35% of the time) adapted to the level of the student or even English courses to reach a B2 level in both languages.
    • The scientific and technical part (65% of the time) including:
      • A continuation of intensive French courses in specialty,
      • Group work on project objectives,
      • Courses that can be taught in French and English, theoretical (maths, sciences), laboratories, practical work,
      • Methodology courses (note-taking, report writing, oral presentation, ...),
      • Cultural visits and industrial sites

Second semester (location: school campus chosen for the master) from January to June:
Participation in the activities of students engineers of M0 (1st year of the cycle of engineers) for a better integration and preparation to the master programme (French course FLE, practical work, directed exercises, courses, personal work ...).

In June, depending on the profile, students can be offered an internship.

After the PreMaster

Option 1: A guaranteed master in initial training.
Subject to validation of the PreMaster and the 60 ECTS credits required for enrollment in a Master (M1 + M2), the student will continue his master's studies in one of the schools of Network "n+i" with exemption of path to success.

Option 2: A master with apprenticeship

Subject to being selected by a company for an apprenticeship contract.

Since 1987, in France, it is possible to obtain a diploma of higher education by practicing the alternation between school and company under contract of apprenticeship. Today, more than 15% of graduates are apprentices.

At the end of the 2-year period, this apprenticeship training offers an engineering degree recognized by the accreditation organisation CTI. Apprentices-students benefit from the help of the company to pay the training, from a monthly salary and at the end of the training a first professional experience in a company in France. 

The "apprentice" status can only be obtained after 12 months of studies in France and on the condition that a company is associated.

What is the cost of training for the apprentice-student? €0
The training is funded by the regional councils and a special tax "apprenticeship tax"; Apprentices receive support for travel, accommodation and catering. They are tax-exempted for most of their income.

Do I have the same degree? 
YES: apprenticeship is a modality, degree is the same whatever the modality is.
You get an engineering degree (master's degree) and the company participates in the evaluation.
Competence certification is done in real situations!

The cost of a PreMaster

Academic PreMaster costs are € 10 100  *(price in 2020) and include:

  • The Welcome and Discovery Package
  • The academic fees that represent;
    • The "n+i" registration,
    • The courses of PreMaster: Semester 1 and Semester 2

Not included: living expenses (accommodation, food etc.) for the duration of the programme, air tickets, visa fees.

Pre-diplôme d'Ingénieur Programme (Pre-DI)

A foundation year

A unique programme to prepare to a "Diplôme d’Ingénieur” with a foundation year + 3 years of master

Aims of the programme

Network "n+i" offers to students to join a foundation year of upgrading courses in language (French and/or English), mathematics, sciences, to prepare them better for their 3-year training of “Diplôme d’ingénieur” (Master's degree) in France (better chances of success). It is a unique program.

During one year, courses will be designed in order to upgrade the background in math’s, sciences (physic, chemistry...) and on learning intensively French language.

During the first semester student will be in contact with all schools in order to be recruited by one of them for the second semester and the following 3-year master programme.

During the pre-DI, schools will also search companies able to offer an apprenticeship programme for the 3-Year “Diplôme d’ingénieur” fully funded by a company.

Duration and credits

The duration of Pre-Diplôme d’ingénieur (Pre-DI) is 10-12 months (2 semesters from September till August) followed by a 3-year programme of Master.

  • Students without a Bachelor but, as a minimum, a national diploma after 2 years of higher education.

Foundation period for post secondary studies

An integrated training

With this unique programme, applicants with a degree of Secondary Education and a beginner level in French, can apply for a Bachelor Degree (licence grade) or an Integrated Engineering Degree (master grade) in France with full n+i assistance.

Application possible for bachelor programmes and 19 master programmes proposed by "n+i" institutions

Aims of the programme

This program is intended for all students after Secondary Education wishing to:

  • Get a Bachelor Degree (licence grade) or an Engineering degree (master grade) in 5 years+ after Secondary Education,
  • Get an international experience in France, a major European country

Advantages of the Integrated programme to the Bachelor or Master Degree

  • A discovery of French culture in a high-level scientific and technical environment,
  • Benefit from the 20 years experience of Network n+i in welcoming and preparing international students to engineering trainings
  • All Bachelor Degrees (licence grade) are recognized and labelled by the French State as a quality training program.
  • All Engineering Degrees (master grade) are fully accredited by CTI (French National Comitee for Engineering degree accreditation)
  • A better preparation for studies in France with the "n+i" foundation period,
  • During the study period for Bachelor or Master Degree students are accommodated in reserved residences.

Duration and credits

The total duration of the programme is a minimum of 5 years for a master, or a minimum of 3 years for a bachelor with:

  • a foundation period of 1 year (TCF A2 level in French required)
  • after 3 years, some institutions may deliver a bachelor degree with 180 ECTS
  • after 5 years, the institution will deliver an Engineering Degree (master grade) with 300 ECTS

Requirements

  • A degree of Secondary Education (or more), as for exemple: French Baccalauréat (France), HuiKAO or GaoKAO (China), Higher Secondary Certificate (India), Bachillerato (Mexico) etc.
  • French Language: the required level is the TCF level A2 (recommended equivalent TCF 250pts) to join the "n+i" foundation period
  • The "n+i" foundation period leading to a Bachelor or Engineering Degree (master). At the end of the foundation period, student must get a B2 level in French to continue in the recruiting institution.

The "n+i" foundation period:

from September to August:

  • Intensive French courses (major part) adapted to the level of the student courses to reach a B2 level in French at the end of August.
  • Other courses will include:
    • A continuation of intensive French courses with scientific vocabulary,
    • Methodology courses (note-taking, report writing, oral presentation, ...),
    • Courses that can be taught in French and English, theoretical (maths, sciences) 
    • Cultural visits and industrial sites

Requirement: a A2 TCF level* (recommended equivalent TCF 250pts) in French is required to join the "n+i" foundation period.

* If the student does not have the required A2 level in French before the "n+i" foundation period, he can reach it by following courses locally (Alliance Française, etc.), or in France with the Extended Package of Linguistic Integration (Ext. PIL) (for a tailor made duration, upon french level).

Cost of the programme:

  • Cost of the welcome and foundation programme: €9 400* for 1 year (price in 2020, this cost can be reduced according to the student's language level) with:
    • Registration fees (selection process, orientation, assistance and follow-up, etc.),
    • The Welcome and Discovery Package in France, on begining of March
    • The courses of the foundation period: one semester in France from begining of March to end of August,
  • Academic cost of the integrated training: Bachelor(licence grade) or Engineering Degree in 5 years+ (master grade)
    From €1 700 per year to €7 000 per year (average cost). Academic cost vary according to the recruiting institution and must be paid directly to the institution.

Not included: any specific preparation to get to A2 level before the "n+i" foundation period, living expenses (accommodation, food etc.) for the duration of the n+i foundation period and during the engineering training (bachelor, master degree) , air tickets, visa fees.
